About Us

I'm Sarah, the owner & designer behind Flower Lane. Every crown is handcrafted with care in Maryland, USA, by a team of talented women. I believe in celebrating childhood & creating fun new traditions with heirloom quality products in mind.
My children are my inspiration and my husband is my biggest fan. Together we make Flower Lane come alive.
I grew up in Germany and immigrated to the US when I was 10 years old. I didn't know English and had 3 months to learn the language. Germany will forever be my home, it's where I spent most of my childhood and part of my families lives. I've always been inspired by Waldorf and Montessori education but it's the whimsical feel of Waldorf that has inspired the ideas behind Flower Lane.
The crowns have always been a part of Flower Lane since it opened in August of 2020 but I wanted to hold off until our youngest's birthday in January. I released the crowns in October and sold out the same day. I was shocked!
Since the release of the crowns I've worked hard on perfecting the design, (making it one size fits all!), choosing quality 100% linen, and growing a community of mothers who share the same idea; celebrating childhood and creating memories that you'll cherish forever.
We pride ourselves in providing a heirloom quality product that will be used each year for celebrations. A product your children will cherish and keep in their box of memories. When you look at your child's crown I hope it brings back a feeling of nostalgia.
So glad you're here,
Sarah & Family

Meet The Team

Joni Shipp was our across-the-street neighbor for a few years before we discovered she also loved to sew.
After retiring in 2012 from a 25+ year career in Human Resources at a Fortune 100 company, Joni had no trouble finding ways to spend her new found leisure time. She enjoys playing on a women's bowling league, meeting friends for lunch and occasionally substitute teaching in elementary school - but her real passion is quilting. While Joni and her husband enjoy a good road trip a couple of times a year, she spends the majority of her free time sewing with her two small dogs - Minni and Goofy - nearby.
In the summer months, Joni can be found in the back yard by the pool, surrounded by her husband of almost 40+ years, 2 adult children and their spouses, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Karolina - Crown Maker

I was born with limb differences and wear a prosthetic leg. I spent many days of my childhood visiting Shriners Hospital for Children. Thirteen surgeries and countless hours of therapy to give me the best quality of life.
Art was something I could do confined to a hospital bed. I loved all art media so it was no surprise when I went to Herron School of Art. Upon graduating with a bachelors in Art education, my husband Justin and I learned we were expecting our first child. While teaching I started sewing quilts and cloth diapers in preparation for our son’s arrival. A few years later Justin joined the Air Force. We’ve been fortunate to welcome a second son and daughter while being stationed in Japan and England. I love hiking, biking and everything outdoors.
Even though I’m not in the classroom anymore I still try to find time to make art, and dream of someday having my own pottery studio.
