We left early Friday morning to Rhode Island to visit family - our yearly trip! The kids always look forward to it and our older two stay an extra week. They really enjoy spending alone time with each uncle and our youngest, Gigi, gets some alone time with us back at home.
On Saturday my husband and I spent the day in Cape Cod. It was SO needed. Our last trip together was to Block Island, 3 years ago. We woke up early and grabbed coffee on the way and stopped at our favorite donut shop, PVDonuts in Providence, Rhode Island. YUM! They change their menu every month and it never disappoints.
We arrived in Cape Cod and made Coast Guard Beach our first stop. It was foggy and made all my North Eastern beach dreams come true. There's something dreamy about the water, fog, and sounds of the ocean that make my heart so happy. We walked along the foggy beach and watched seals play in the ocean.
We grabbed lunch at Arnold's before heading to Main Street in Harwich. A sweet little town filled with small shops that carry unique products. Our first stop was a shop in the back of someone's house! The owner's talked to us about their grandson's hockey, how she started her shop, the changes she's made, and a little about other shops on the street that we should check out. So much charm! We purchased a Santa ornament made from oyster shells - so unique! We collect ornaments and our tree is a hodge podge of random things.. and I love that. I wish I remembered the name of this shop.
Another store I really loved is a Below the Brine Bookstore we came across. There was something so sweet and charming about this little store. I picked out The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller and the setting takes place in Cape Cod!
My last purchase was a sweet and dainty bracelet from The Beaded Wire. She had exactly what I was hoping to find. I adore it and it will remind me of our trip to Cape Cod.
On our way to Provincetown we stopped by a pottery studio with a sweet pup and watched the owner as he worked on making a dish. I've always wanted to see one a studio in person.
In Provincetown we grabbed coffee and browsed some of their shops. We ate at Bubalas and it was one of THE BEST meals I've ever had. After dinner we walked around a little more before heading back to my in laws house.
A day well spent!
